Mike Bocchino Rallies Supporters As Campaign Rolls On

GREENWICH, CT - Dozens of supporters and interested voters recently turned out to hear Rep. Mike Bocchino lay out plans for the coming term, as his re-election bid winds down the home stretch to Election Day. The two-term incumbent from the 150th General Assembly district has been traversing the Greenwich shoreline voting area from the Port Chester, NY to Stamford, CT listening to his constituents and offering his blueprint for getting the state’s financial house in order.

“In order to bring jobs back to the State, we must create viable incentives for new business. That means reducing the corporate tax rate, retaining the talented grads coming out of our higher learning institutions and welcoming new industries to the State,” said Bocchino. As ranking member of the Labor Committee, Bocchino knows first-hand the up-hill battle the State faces. "We have a pension system for State employees that is unsustainable. The last time we had an opportunity to address the issue, the Democratic majorities in the House and Senate fell in lock-step with Governor Malloy."

Bocchino urged the enthusiastic crowd at the Two Door Restaurant to not only help return him to Hartford, but to encourage their family, friends and neighbors to get out in support of his delegation-mates Sen. Scott Frantz, Rep. Fred Camillo and Rep. Livvy Floren. "The last budget cycle demonstrated that Republicans and Democrats can work together successfully if we put aside partisan politics and place the best interests of the people of Connecticut first," said Bocchino, who is cross-endorsed by the Independent Party. "This is a wonderful place to live, and one that I am bound and determined to leave better for my children."

Bocchino serves as the Ranking Member of the Labor and Public Employees Committee, and also sits on the Housing, and Energy and Technology Committees. During his first year of service, he was recognized by the State Legislative Leaders Foundation as one of the Nations Emerging leaders and represented the State of CT at the national conference in Virginia at the Darden School of Business.

A lifetime resident of Greenwich, Bocchino is a graduate of the Greenwich public schools system and continued with his education at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, CT, graduating with a degree in Business Administration. He has a reputation for being involved in his community, having served as President of the PTA for the New Lebanon School for 3 years and as a founding member of the Greenwich Preservation Trust where he serves as Treasurer on the executive board. In addition, Bocchino spent several years as the Byram neighborhood Association president.

Mike resides in Greenwich with his wife, Shannon, and their two sons.
